Spotify and Nike have joined forces to bring the next era of movement and innovation to life. The two cultural leaders are highlighting the undeniable link between sneaker culture and audio experiences, creating a moment where music and fashion, once again, intersect.
At the centre of this story is ‘The Alchemist’ – a film that takes a peek into the art of music creation, not just as a process, but as a ritual of crafting memories that last forever—much like the newly launched Air Max Dn8. Set to premiere officially on Wednesday, 26 March, this film features South Africa’s own culture curators, DBN Gogo and Omagoqa.
Accompanying the release of the film will be a specially curated playlist, On Tour Africa: Sounds of the Air Max Dn8 set to go live on Friday, 21 March. The playlist is inspired by melodies and upbeat African tunes, taking listeners on a journey that brings the connection between sound, style, and street culture full circle.

“Spotify is committed to amplifying African voices and creating unique cultural moments and I hope our collaboration with Nike makes it clear that this is larger than the individual. It’s about bringing together sub-cultures and communities that have a lot in common, to create an unforgettable experience,” says Kevin Seturumane, Consumer Marketing Manager at Spotify Sub-Saharan Africa.Â
