World Class Bartender Competition Hosts Top 20 at Exclusive Johnnie Walker Blue Dinner

The World Class Bartender Competition welcomed its Top 20 contestants to an exclusive Johnnie Walker Blue Dinner on Sunday in the heart of Sandton, setting the stage for one of the most prestigious cocktail competitions in the world.

The evening, powered by Johnnie Walker Blue Label, gave contestants the opportunity to relax, network, and get to know their fellow competitors before the start of the competition. Guests enjoyed a carefully curated three-course dinner, with each course paired with a signature cocktail designed to complement the menu.

The World Class Bartender Competition will run over the next few days, with the highly anticipated final taking place on 15 July 2026. During the finale, one talented bartender will be crowned the South African champion.

The winner will receive a cash prize, return as a judge for the 2027 competition, and earn the honour of representing South Africa at the World Class Global Final in Scotland.

Addressing the contestants, Phil Burrows, the 2025 World Class South Africa winner, shared words of encouragement.

“It really takes a lot, and it’s a great achievement to be at this stage of the competition. Whether you win or not, be proud of yourself.”

Burrows also introduced the evening’s menu, explaining how each dish had been expertly paired with a signature Johnnie Walker Blue Label cocktail to create a memorable dining experience.

With the country’s best bartenders now preparing to compete, all eyes are on the final as South Africa searches for its next World Class champion.
