Supported by Nkabi Records, the event delivered over four hours of top-notch entertainment featuring an impressive lineup that included Lwah Ndonkulu, DJ Zintle, Nkosazana Daughter, Xolwa, Siya Ntuli, Master KG, Blaq Diamond, and more. Fans reveled in the harmony of sound and flavor, enjoying a celebration that blended the culinary excitement of Benny’s offerings with the electrifying performances from some of South Africa’s biggest stars.Â
In a heartfelt interview, Big Zulu shared the origins of his iconic history , “Mr Somatekisi.” The name, which resonates with fans, stems from his days as a taxi driver. “The name comes from the taxi rank when I used to be a taxi driver for a period of six years,” he explained.
“People started getting used to me with that name, which now it’s a brand, not just a name. As the evening came to a close, Big Zulu revealed his intention for the concert series, stating that Mr Somatekisi Live in Concert will become an annual event held in various provinces, with this being just the first of many. This remarkable collaboration between culture, music, and culinary arts truly encapsulates the spirit of home, and attendees left with memories that will last a lifetime.
