In a world where the hustle and bustle of everyday life can often drown out the whispers of the soul, one artist stands out with a mission to heal through song. Ngasii, a 29-year-old singer-songwriter originally from Cala and Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, has been dedicated to this purpose since the tender age of four. While many of his peers chose paths in Economics, Health Sciences, and Engineering, Ngasii remained resolute in his pursuit of music, seeking to touch hearts and inspire healing. His artistic journey has led him to refine his craft at what is now Nelson Mandela University, where he completed his qualification in Music and later earned a Masters in Musicology in 2022. His dissertation explored the vital theme of Glom as a black youth identity in South Africa, showcasing his deep commitment to social issues through art.

Now, Ngasii is set to feature in a powerful new single titled “uDecember” by Vosloorus- born rapper Dali Danger. This track promises to encapsulate the experiences and reflections of a South African summer, offering listeners a profound connection to their own emotions. As he prepares to share this heartfelt work with the world, Ngasii’s journey from a small-town Dreamer to a purposeful artist is a testament to thetransformative power of music, his music journey took a significant turn in 2018, when he first collaborated with the renowned DJ Prince Kaybee as a songwriter for the hit song “Banomoya”. Ngasii’s talents shone even brighter in 2019 as he performed on Kaybee’s track “Sondela”, featured in the celebrated Crossover Music EP, which showcased South African music legends and icons, including Mafikizolo’s Nhlanhla Mafu, the late AKA, and the incredible Brenden Praise. His contributions didn’t stop there; in 2020, he joined forces once again with Kaybee, this time as part of the writingteam, collaborating with musical gems like Msaki, Dr Thulz, and Sir Trill on the much- anticipated “Project Hope (Season1)” album.

“uDecember,” is an infectious Amapiano tune that perfectly captures the vibrant spirit of a South African December. Fellow features on the track include the star-studded lineup of producer Sandza De Keys, rapper Cray Pill, DJ Mvelo Makhanya, and West Cole on guitar, “uDecember” is a high-energy celebration of sun-soaked days, endless joy, and the anticipation of the year’s biggest party — New Year’s Eve. Drawing inspiration from the irresistible melody and upliftingenergy of Earth, Wind & Fire’s timeless classic “September,” “uDecember” transports listeners to the heart of the Southern Hemisphere’s summer, where the sun shines bright and thestreets are alive with the sound of laughter and music.

In an engaging Q&A session with singer-songwriter, Ngasii shed light on the vibrant essence of “uDecember”stating that the inspiration behind this single stem from the love, joy, excitement, and freedom that define the South African experience in December. As Ngasii passionately shared, “it’s more than just a month; it’s truly a lifestyle that embodies the spirit of a South African summer”. The title “uDecember”holds a special significance, encapsulating the celebration and unity felt during this time. Furthermore, by interpolating Earth, Wind and Fire’s classic “September,” Ngasii helped craft a track that resonates with pure energy and fun, creating a harmonious blend of nostalgia and contemporary joy.
