The story of Blood Legacy begins when Khanyi’s father, the proprietor of Spear Industries, calls her back home with the intention of giving her control of the business rather than her avaricious and dishonest brothers. There’s animosity between the father and the brothers—especially Mandla—and Khanyi’s unexpected visit exacerbates things, especially when the others find out. The sibling rivalry and the cold conflicts give the show’s plot a strong sense of foreboding that has you wondering who could have been the person to ruthlessly assail the family patriarch in their own domains.

The legendary Connie Chiume plays the matriarch of the family with a strong performance in one of her last acting role.
We had an interview with the leading character Khanyisile Adesina (played by Xolile Tshabalala and she was asked the following questions:
Describe your experience working with diverse cast members and production teams?
“This project has been the honour of a lifetime. This is a powerful cast from my siblings played by Buyile and Mike, to my parents on the show u’malum Treasure, the late great mam Connie, who always made me elevate my game. Even at 3 am, Our crews have been incredible from our first table reads all the way to the marketing teams responsible for promotion. This has been a dream. I would do it all again”.
What are some of the similar qualities do you share with those of a character?
“Khanyi is strong. She loves her family and will always try to do the right thing. She is someone who, like all of us has her faults but at the end of the day, she always stays true to herself. She’s focused and I believe I am all these things as well”.
The Blood Legacy was directed by Marvin-Lee Beukes, Nozipho Nkelemba, Bonie Sithebe, Nthabiseng Tau from South African production house Gambit Film, the producers who are behind series like Blood & Water and Unseen, and is a remake of the Mexican series Monarca. September 20, 2024, marked the debut of the series.
