Celebrating 15 Years of Musical Magic: Khuzani, the Maskandi Maestro, Honored by Universal Music SA!

On May 14th, Universal Music Group South Africa brought the rhythmic heart of Maskandi music to life with the UMG Maskandi Showcase, a dazzling tribute to the phenomenal 15-year journey of Khuzani in the music industry. Held at the Universal Music offices in Rosebank, this event was not just a showcase; it was a heartfelt homage to the rich traditions and electrifying energy that Maskandi embodies.

The UMG Maskandi Showcase lit up the night with electrifying performances from the genre’s brightest talents, including the dynamic duo Amasinamuva Amasha and the sensational rising star uMlabalaba. But the true showstopper? None other than Mbuzeni, who took the stage by storm with a breathtaking live band, dazzling the audience with his impressive guitar tricks and a remarkable Maskandi rendition of Rihanna’s chart-topping hit, “Diamonds.” This was an evening where tradition met innovation, leaving everyone in awe!

Khuzani, a Maskandi icon, was honored for his contributions to the genre with him receiving 5 Plaques, 3 Gold Certifications for his album, ‘Inja Nogodo’ and his 2 singles ‘Imbongolo’ & ‘Angidlali Nezingane’; a Platinum Certification for ‘Umjolo Lowo’ and Double-Platinum Certification for his single ‘Ijele’ Khuzani thanked Universal Music for their contribution to his career in the past 8 years he has been with them.

He also thanked his fans and the media for the support they have given him throughout the years.
